Russo Brothers Unveil Gritti, This Inspirational Series

Before they directed the biggest movie ever and three other biggest Marvel Studios movies in the MCU, directors Anthony and Joe Russo were both independent directors who got their start in television. Among their efforts is the Emmy Award-winning and fan-favourite comedy series stunted development. The Russo brothers directed not only the show’s pilot but an additional 13 episodes of the series. And we said, “Look, we think we can use this as inspiration to make a show on a cheaper budget that, you know, has 30, 35 changes in location, over 5, 6 days of shooting. Which was unheard of at the time, for For television, it was too expensive to do that. So we set out to do that pilot with digital cameras, like reality show, and documentary style.”

Anthony Russo added, “Yes, it was the first prime-time script to be shot on digital video, not on film. It was all part of the effort Joe and I put in, that redemptive energy Ron Howard was looking for to shake things up. With The idea that reality TV was kind of eating the dial, in terms of its size, “because it was so cheap to make, it could be seen so much. And so we developed this attitude of, ‘Okay, if you can’t beat it, join in. And I think part of the reason it works so well is because the show is totally silly, but applying photorealism and documentary realism to it, it just felt weird.’

The new Russo Brothers movie, the upcoming Netflix release gray man, sees the couple tackle a new subgenre, espionage, and explore some other influences like James Bond and more. Currently playing in select theaters, gray man It will premiere on Netflix on July 22nd.
